At Kelly O'Neil Design, we've spent years refining an approach that does both. Our five-phase process is thorough without being overwhelming, structured without feeling rigid, and always, from the first call to the final reveal, centered entirely on you.

The Five Phases

Every great design begins with a great conversation. In our discovery phase, we take the time to genuinely understand you; your lifestyle, your aesthetic instincts, the way you entertain, the way you unwind, the things that have always bothered you about the spaces you've lived in. We visit the home, walk every room, and ask all the questions that help guide the project.
By the end of discovery, we know exactly what your home needs to become and you know exactly who you're working with. No guesswork. Just a real, unhurried conversation that sets the entire project up for success.
What you'll have: A clear design brief, a confirmed scope of work, and a project timeline.
This is where the vision comes to life for the first time. We develop a comprehensive design concept for your home with mood boards, material and finish palettes, furniture layouts, color direction, and the overall aesthetic story we're telling room by room.
We present everything together in a concept presentation, so you can see the full picture before a single decision is finalized. You'll have the opportunity to react, refine, and redirect. We want you to feel completely confident before we move forward. This phase exists so that there are no surprises later.
What you'll have: A complete design direction you're genuinely excited about.
With the concept confirmed, we go deep. Every element of your home is specified in full detail: furniture selections and custom pieces, lighting plans, plumbing fixtures, tile and stone, window treatments, hardware, art placement, and accessories. We produce detailed floor plans, elevations, and specification documents for every trade involved in the project.
Nothing is left to chance. Nothing is assumed. Every decision is documented, coordinated, and communicated clearly, to you and to every contractor, vendor, and installer who will bring it to life.
What you'll have: A complete design package ready for procurement and construction.
This is the phase most clients never see, and that's entirely by design. We manage every purchase order, every vendor relationship, every delivery confirmation, and every contractor coordination on your behalf. When something arrives damaged, we handle it. When a lead time changes, we have a plan. When trades need to be sequenced, we sequence them.
You stay informed at every step through regular updates but you are never burdened by the logistics. That's our job. You have enough to do.
What you'll have: A project moving forward precisely, without requiring your daily attention.
This is the moment everything comes together. On installation day, we are on-site from start to finish directing movers, placing furniture, hanging art, styling surfaces, and making the hundreds of small decisions that transform a delivered collection of beautiful things into a home that feels curated and intentional.
When you walk through the door, the home is finished. Not mostly finished. Not ready in a few more days. Finished, every pillow placed, every candle lit, every room ready to be lived in. This is the moment our clients consistently tell us they'll never forget.
